Nikolai Fedorov

Nikolai Fedorov is a prominent Russian politician, known for being the first president of Chuvashia, a position he held from 1994 to 2010. Before his presidency, Fedorov served as the Minister of Justice in both the RSFSR and Russia. After leaving the presidency, he took on various roles, including head of the Constitutional Legislation Committee in the Federation Council and Minister of Agriculture. He returned to the Federation Council in 2015, serving as the first deputy speaker until 2020. Recently, he was in the news due to his potential exclusion from a senator candidacy list by the current head of Chuvashia, Oleg Nikolaev, amid allegations of political pressure on local deputies.
