Nikolai Tsirto
Nikolai Tsirto is a Belarusian businessman and former deputy director of the Department for Working with Securities at Belarusbank. He was initially sentenced to nine years in a high-security colony for bribery in connection with a corruption case involving top managers of Belarusbank in 2017. After serving a portion of his sentence, he was granted a pardon. However, in early 2024, Tsirto was again detained by the KGB for allegedly providing information to the 'Black Book of Belarus,' which tracks individuals involved in political repression. The circumstances surrounding his legal troubles reflect the turbulent political climate in Belarus.
