Nora Herlihy
Nora Herlihy was a dedicated teacher from Cork who played a crucial role in the establishment of Ireland's first credit union in the 1960s. Disturbed by the poverty surrounding her, she founded an exploratory group for credit union services in her home, aiming to provide underprivileged students and their families with better financial resources. Her efforts led to the formation of a credit union that would eventually grow to serve nearly a million members by her passing in 1988.
