Oleksandr Darchiev

Oleksandr Darchiev is a seasoned Russian diplomat who has recently been in the news for his appointment as the new ambassador of Russia to the United States, following the U.S. government's agreement to his nomination. Darchiev has a long history of diplomatic service, having spent approximately ten years in the Russian embassy in Washington, D.C., where he served in various capacities including counselor and deputy chief of mission. He was also the ambassador of Russia to Canada from 2014 to 2021 and has held the position of director of the Department of North America at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs since January 2021.
