Papa Sixto V

Papa Sixto V, born Francesco Peretti, served as Pope from 1585 to 1590 and is notable for his significant reforms within the Catholic Church, including the standardization of the Vatican's bureaucracy. He is also recognized for officially approving the scapular of the Virgin of Carmen in 1587, thus promoting the devotion to the Virgin Mary as a protector and intercessor for the faithful, which solidified the practice among Catholics worldwide.
