Santa Teresa de Jesús (1515-1582) was a prominent Spanish mystic, reformer of the Carmelite order, and a key figure in the Catholic Reformation. Known for her deep spiritual writings and experiences, she established the Discalced Carmelites, aiming to return to a more austere form of monastic life. Her works, including 'The Interior Castle' and 'Way of Perfection', have left a lasting impact on Christian spirituality. Canonized in 1614, she was also declared a Doctor of the Church in 1970, recognizing her theological contributions and influence on spirituality.
