Paulo Henriques Britto is a prominent Brazilian poet and translator, born in 1951 in Rio de Janeiro. He has published 14 books, including eight volumes of poetry, and has received numerous literary awards, such as the Portugal Telecom Prize and the Jabuti Award. Recently, he was elected to chair 30 of the Academia Brasileira de Letras, succeeding the late Heloisa Teixeira. Britto is known for his translations of major English-language poets and has significantly contributed to the field of contemporary Brazilian poetry.
