Petrache Poenaru (1799-1875) was a Romanian inventor, educator, and social justice advocate, renowned for his contributions to education and for patenting the world's first fountain pen in 1827. A prominent figure in Romanian history, he was also an influential teacher at the Sf. Sava College in Bucharest and served as the director of the Romanian schools.
