Petre Sergescu was a renowned Romanian mathematician, born in Turnu-Severin, who specialized in algebra and number theory. He completed his doctoral studies at the University of Bucharest and became a professor of analytical geometry at the University of Cluj and later at the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest. Sergescu was instrumental in founding the prestigious journal 'Mathematica' and earned recognition in France for his scientific contributions before his death in 1954.
