Petros Bouras-Vallianatos

Petros Bouras-Vallianatos is an Associate Professor of the History of Science with a specialization in the history of medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA). He previously worked at the University of Edinburgh from 2007 to 2022 before returning to Greece, believing it to be a better environment for raising his children. His research proposal focused on studying Byzantine-era medicines to explore their components that could inspire new pharmaceutical developments. His interdisciplinary team included experts from various fields, but the disbandment of the 'Trust your stars' program left many researchers without opportunities, leading to a significant loss of talent in Greek academia.
