Pompey Rolle was an enslaved man who led a significant revolt in Exuma in 1830, marking one of the first documented acts of resistance against slavery in The Bahamas. His defiance against orders to relocate enslaved people is now celebrated as a pivotal moment in the fight for freedom, and he has been posthumously named a National Hero of the Bahamas.
