Pope Clement VI

Pope Clement VI, who served from 1342 to 1352, was the first pope of the Avignon Papacy. His papacy is known for its diplomatic efforts during the Black Death and its attempts to mediate political conflicts in Europe. He also established several reforms in church administration and was a patron of the arts.
