Publio Caicedo Valencia, a 59-year-old community leader from La Unión in Quinindé, was known for his dedication to rural development and social welfare. As the head of the Asociación de Viviendas Comunitarias Las Veletas de El Tambo, he played a crucial role in securing housing and basic services for vulnerable families in his community. His political involvement included coordination for the political organization that supported former presidential candidate Yaku Pérez. Tragically, Caicedo was recently murdered at his home, an act that has shocked the local community and raised concerns about increasing violence in the area.
