Pylyp Orlyk

Pylyp Orlyk was a prominent Ukrainian Cossack leader and diplomat in the early 18th century, best known for his efforts to secure autonomy for the Cossack Hetmanate and his role in forming an anti-Moscow coalition during the Great Northern War. His leadership and diplomatic skills were significant in rallying support against Tsarist Russia, especially after the Battle of Poltava, and he is remembered for drafting one of the earliest constitutions in history, which aimed to establish a democratic governance structure for the Cossacks.
