Qu Yunxia

Qu Yunxia is a retired Chinese middle-distance runner who gained fame for her remarkable performance at the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart, where she won the gold medal in the 3,000 meters. She also set the world record in the 1,500 meters at the 1993 Beijing National Games, which stood for over two decades. Like many of her contemporaries, her career has been marred by allegations of doping, raising questions about the era of Chinese women's athletics.
