
Radivoje Korać
Radivoje Korać was a legendary Yugoslav basketball player born on November 5, 1938, in Sombor. He made significant contributions to the sport, becoming one of the top scorers in Yugoslav basketball history, and was known for his distinctive free-throw technique. Korać played for the national team, winning multiple medals in European and World Championships, and was a key player in securing a silver medal at the Olympics. Tragically, he died in a car accident on June 2, 1969, at the age of 30, becoming the first athlete to be buried in the Alley of the Greats in Belgrade. His legacy endures through various honors and memorials, including the Radivoje Korać Cup, established in his name.
