Rafael Landívar (1731-1793) was a notable Guatemalan poet known for his work 'Rusticatio Mexicana,' in which he vividly describes the natural beauty and cultural richness of Guatemala. Born into a wealthy family in Antigua Guatemala, he experienced significant personal loss early in life, which deeply influenced his writing. His poetry reflects a profound connection to the Guatemalan landscape and its people. After his death, his remains were relocated back to Guatemala in 1949, two centuries later, symbolizing his lasting legacy in the nation’s literature.
