Rahel Negassi

Rahel Negassi, 50, is an Eritrean asylum seeker who lived in the United States for two decades under work authorizations. Recently, she was turned back at the Canada-U.S. border despite having a brother in Ontario, which should have allowed her to apply for refugee status in Canada. After being detained in Texas for two months, her lawyer successfully appealed for her entry into Canada to pursue her claim.
