Ramón Marrero

Ramón "Monchito" Marrero was a Puerto Rican bartender credited with creating the iconic Piña Colada in 1954 at the Caribe Hilton in San Juan. After months of experimentation, he crafted a balanced and stable tropical cocktail that has since become synonymous with the island's culture. His invention was recognized in 1978 when the Puerto Rican government declared the Piña Colada the official drink of the territory, solidifying its place in the world of cocktails.
