Ranawaka Perera

Ranawaka Perera is a virologist originally from Sri Lanka who gained media attention for his tumultuous personal life, particularly his efforts to locate his wife, Li-Meng Yan, after she left him in 2020 to promote controversial theories about the origins of COVID-19. Despite his scientific background and attempts to support his wife during her mental health struggles, Perera found himself in a desperate search, moving to the United States in hopes of reconnecting with Yan, who has since distanced herself from him and her family.
