Rebecca Lobach

Capt. Rebecca Lobach, an Army aviation officer, was involved in a tragic midair collision between a Black Hawk helicopter and a passenger airplane over Washington, D.C., which resulted in 67 fatalities. Prior to the crash, she was conducting her annual flight evaluation and had approximately 500 flight hours in the Black Hawk. Lobach, who served in the Army since July 2019, was also a military social aide at the White House during the Biden administration. Her actions during the flight, which included ignoring air traffic control instructions, have drawn national scrutiny regarding aviation safety protocols.
