Richard Joseph Brennan is the father of the Brennan sisters, whose family was marked by a facade of respectability while hiding deep-seated abuse and dysfunction. He was an alcoholic and exhibited violent behavior towards his family, contributing to an environment of fear that prevented his daughters from speaking out about the sexual abuse inflicted upon them by his sons. Following the revelations of abuse, he expressed regret over his inaction when Catherine disclosed her abuse in 1984.
