Richard O’Cahan, also known as the 18th-century governor of Menorca, was a soldier renowned for his role in the Wars of Religion, particularly at the Siege of Derry and the Battle of the Boyne. After a distinguished military career, he spent the last 25 years of his life in Menorca, where he oversaw significant improvements to the island, including the construction of the Camí d’en Kane, which linked the island's major cities. His legacy is commemorated by an effusive epitaph at Westminster Abbey, celebrating his contributions and character as a leader who prioritized the public good.
