Richard Sears

Richard Sears was the first champion of the US Open, winning the inaugural tournament in 1881 at the age of 20. He not only claimed the first title but went on to dominate the competition by winning seven consecutive singles championships, finishing his career at the US Open undefeated. Additionally, Sears secured six titles in doubles before an injury forced him to retire from the sport.
