Rickey Singh was a prominent Guyana-born journalist and columnist who made significant contributions to the field of journalism in the Caribbean. Beginning his career in 1957 with the Guiana Graphic, Singh evolved into an influential political reporter, covering a range of social and political issues throughout the region. He wrote for various publications and wire services across Guyana, Barbados, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, as well as contributing to the BBC Caribbean Report and Caribbean News Agency. His dedication to journalism earned him an Honorary Doctorate from the University of the West Indies and a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023. Singh was also instrumental in founding the Caribbean Association of Media Workers, showcasing his commitment to the advancement of media in the Caribbean.
