Roberto Antonio Pérez Herrera, better known as Rubby Pérez, is a renowned Dominican merengue singer born in Bajos de Haina in 1956. Originally aspiring to be a baseball player, his life took a different direction after a car accident led him to focus on music. He studied at the National Conservatory of Music in Santo Domingo and gained fame in the early 1980s as a member of Wilfrido Vargas's orchestra, performing hits like 'Volveré' and 'El africano.' In 1987, he launched a successful solo career, producing popular songs such as 'Buscando tus besos' and 'Dame veneno,' earning numerous awards and recognition across Latin America. Recently, he made headlines when he was found alive and singing after a concert venue collapsed.
