Rodolphe Tissières was a Swiss army captain who played a crucial role in the development of ski mountaineering as a competitive sport. He, along with fellow officer Roger Bonvin, organized the first ski patrol race in 1943, which laid the groundwork for the prestigious 'Patrouille des Glaciers' race.
