Roger Davis
Roger Davis served as the United States Ambassador to Cyprus during a tumultuous period in 1974. He is infamously known as the only American diplomat to have been assassinated within an embassy, killed during an anti-American demonstration in Nicosia. His death, along with that of embassy employee Antouaneta Varnava, occurred amidst the chaos of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus. The incident raised significant questions about U.S. diplomatic security and the political tensions surrounding the situation in Cyprus.
