Roger Lumbala
Roger Lumbala is a former Congolese rebel leader who is currently on trial in Paris for his alleged role in war crimes committed during the Second Congo War (1998-2003). Accused of complicity in crimes against humanity, Lumbala's actions as a leader of the Rally of Congolese Democrats and Nationalists (RCD-N) involved horrific atrocities, including rape and murder, particularly targeting ethnic pygmy groups. Following his arrest in France in December 2020, his trial has been seen as a significant opportunity for justice for victims of the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
