Samuel von Brukenthal

Samuel von Brukenthal served as the Governor of Transylvania during the time of the peasant uprising and was a significant figure in the Habsburg administration. He is often remembered for his efforts to maintain order and suppress the revolt led by Horea and Cloșca. His cancellation of decrees allowing peasant conscription incited the uprising, and his administration's harsh response to the rebellion reflects the tensions between imperial authority and local discontent.
