Sean Fortune was a notorious Irish priest whose sexual abuse of minors led to widespread scandal within the Catholic Church, including the Diocese of Ferns, where he was accused of raping and molesting 29 boys. His actions, which occurred during Brendan Comiskey's tenure as bishop, contributed to significant scrutiny of the Church's handling of abuse allegations. Fortune died by suicide in 1999 while awaiting trial for his crimes.
