Brendan Comiskey
Brendan Comiskey was an Irish Catholic bishop known for his controversial tenure as the Bishop of Ferns from 1984 to 2002. His leadership has been marred by allegations that he failed to adequately address child sexual abuse claims within the diocese, particularly following the airing of the BBC documentary 'Suing the Pope' in 2002. This documentary revealed over 100 allegations of abuse against 21 priests and led to a public inquiry, the Ferns Report, which criticized Comiskey's response to these allegations. He resigned in the wake of these revelations and passed away at the age of 89.
