Sergueï Parkhomenko is a prominent Russian journalist and civic activist, known for founding the information magazine Itogi in 1996 in collaboration with the American weekly Newsweek. With a rich career in journalism, he has initiated several civic projects, including Dissernet, which exposes plagiarism in Russian academia, and Dernière adresse, which commemorates victims of Stalinism with plaques in various Russian cities. Parkhomenko has been vocal in criticizing the militarization of the commemoration of World War II under Vladimir Putin, expressing concern over its use as a propaganda tool.
