Shah Abbas I, also known as Abbas the Great, was the fifth king of the Safavid dynasty in Persia, reigning from 1587 to 1629. He is renowned for his significant contributions to the development of the Persian state, as well as for promoting arts and culture, including the celebration of Nowruz. Shah Abbas transformed Isfahan into a magnificent capital and implemented various reforms that strengthened the economy and military, leaving a lasting legacy in Iranian history.
