Silke Maier-Witt
Silke Maier-Witt was a member of the Red Army Faction (RAF), a left-wing militant group in Germany, from 1977 until she went into hiding two years later. Her involvement included carrying out various tasks for the organization, such as delivering messages and scouting safe passages. After a tumultuous period living underground, she distanced herself from the group during her time in East Germany, where she was welcomed by the state. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall, she was arrested, sentenced, and later released under a witness protection program. Silke has since studied psychology and worked on peace projects in the Balkans, reflecting critically on her past as a terrorist in her memoirs.
