Sir Robert Walpole

Sir Robert Walpole was a British statesman and the first Prime Minister of Great Britain, serving from 1721 to 1742. He is often regarded as the first person to hold the office of Prime Minister in the modern sense and played a significant role in shaping the political landscape of early 18th century Britain. Walpole was known for his adept handling of finances and governance, as well as his patronage of the arts, including his ownership of notable works such as the Canaletto painting recently sold for a record price.
