Sisa Cotacachi

Sisa Cotacachi serves as the interim president of the Federation of Kichwa Peoples of Northern Sierra Ecuador (Chijallta FICI), which represents five Kichwa communities. Since November 1, 2023, she has been actively involved in educating her communities about the impacts of a proposed referendum and consultation in Ecuador, which includes questions regarding constitutional reforms that could affect indigenous rights and resources. Her leadership is crucial in mobilizing grassroots support against these reforms, emphasizing the importance of protecting the rights and sovereignty of indigenous peoples.
