Stone was a Grammy-nominated soul singer, best known for her work in the 1970s as a member of the pioneering all-female hip-hop group The Sequence, which was signed to Sugar Hill Records. Their hit song 'Funk You Up' was a significant milestone in music history and was later sampled in Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' 'Uptown Funk'. In 1999, she launched her solo career with the album 'Black Diamond', named after her daughter. Tragically, she passed away in a car accident shortly after a performance in Montgomery, Alabama, leaving a lasting impact on the music industry.
