Su Htet

Su Htet is a Myanmar national who arrived in Washington D.C. on a student visa in 2019 and graduated in 2023. An active supporter of the pro-democracy movement in Myanmar, she organized virtual demonstrations and fundraisers for striking civil servants after the military coup in 2021. Her activism has put her at risk, especially after her family faced intimidation from authorities back home. As a Muslim woman in a country where minorities face persecution, she harbors deep fears about returning to Myanmar, particularly given her outspoken stance against the junta.
