Sveti Kiril Aleksandrijski
Sveti Kiril Aleksandrijski, born into a noble family and a close relative of Patriarch Theophilus of Alexandria, became a significant figure in early Christianity. He served as Patriarch of Alexandria and was known for his fierce battles against heresies, particularly those propagated by Novatian and Nestorius, as well as his actions against the Jewish community in Alexandria. His legacy includes the powerful prayer to the Virgin Mary, which he composed and is essential for Orthodox Christians to know. He presided over the Third Ecumenical Council in Ephesus, where Nestorius was condemned. Kiril passed away in 444 AD, and his contributions to the faith are commemorated annually.
