Svetlana Georgievna Tikhanovskaya

Svetlana Tikhanovskaya is a prominent Belarusian opposition leader and human rights advocate. She emerged as a key figure during the 2020 presidential elections in Belarus, where she ran against the long-time incumbent Alexander Lukashenko. Following widespread protests against alleged electoral fraud, she became a symbol of the pro-democracy movement in Belarus, advocating for free and fair elections and the release of political prisoners. After facing persecution in her home country, Tikhanovskaya was forced to flee to Lithuania, where she continues to campaign for democracy and human rights in Belarus, gaining international recognition and support for her efforts to challenge the authoritarian regime.
