Sviatlana Cichanouskaya

Sviatlana Cichanouskaya is a prominent Belarusian opposition leader and the wife of Siarhei Cichanouski, a political dissident who was imprisoned for opposing President Alexander Lukashenko. After her husband's imprisonment, Cichanouskaya stepped in to run against Lukashenko in the 2020 presidential elections, where she garnered significant support despite the elections being widely regarded as fraudulent. Following the elections, she became a central figure in the protests against the regime and has since lived in exile, advocating for democracy and human rights in Belarus. Her recent efforts have focused on rallying international support for the release of political prisoners in her home country.
