Szergej was the husband of Natalja Nagovicina, who tragically suffered a stroke while climbing at 6900 meters. His plight became widely known when Natalja chose to stay with him during a critical rescue operation in 2019, highlighting their deep bond amid life-threatening circumstances. Szergej did not survive his ordeal, and his body was never recovered, marking a poignant chapter in Natalja's life as a mountaineer.
