
Tawakkul Karmān
Tawakkul Karmān is a Yemeni journalist and activist who played a pivotal role in the Arab Spring, particularly in Yemen. She co-founded the group Women Journalists Without Chains and became a prominent voice for women's rights and democracy in her country. In 2011, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize alongside Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Leymah Gbowee for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women's rights to full participation in peace-building work. Karmān's activism has made her an influential figure in promoting freedom of expression and political reform in Yemen.
