Teoktistos was a prominent figure in the Byzantine court who served as a guardian and mentor to Saint Cyril after the early death of Cyril's father, Lav. His influence helped shape Cyril's intellectual and spiritual development, ultimately leading him to co-create the Glagolitic alphabet and further the mission of spreading Christianity among the Slavic nations.
