Tokhtamysh was a khan of the Golden Horde, known for his attempts to consolidate power in the region during the late 14th century. He is most notably remembered for his defeat by Timur (Tamerlane) at the Battle of the Terik in 1395, which marked a significant turning point in the decline of the Golden Horde and the rise of new political identities in Central Asia.
