Tomás de Camino Beck

Tomás de Camino Beck is a researcher and master in computer science, currently serving as the director of the School of Intelligent Systems at Universidad Cenfotec in Costa Rica. He has been vocal about the ongoing digital divide in the country, emphasizing that it is shameful for Costa Rica to still be discussing this issue in 2025, decades after it was first raised. With nearly 225,000 students in public schools lacking access to technological education due to a shortage of qualified teachers, de Camino advocates for urgent reforms in the educational system to integrate technology into the curriculum. He believes that technological education should be a fundamental part of students' development, akin to traditional subjects like mathematics, and stresses the importance of establishing a sustainable technological training program that transcends political cycles.
