
Tôn Đức Thắng
Tôn Đức Thắng was a prominent Vietnamese revolutionary and politician who served as the second President of North Vietnam from 1969 until his death in 1980. Born on August 20, 1888, in An Giang province, he played a crucial role in the Vietnamese struggle for independence against French colonial rule and later against the United States during the Vietnam War. Tôn was a close associate of Ho Chi Minh and was known for his strong commitment to the Communist Party and the socialist ideals of Vietnam. He is celebrated for his contributions to the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and for promoting national unity and reconstruction efforts post-war.
