Leon Trotsky was a Russian Marxist revolutionary and theorist, a key leader in the Bolshevik movement, and one of the principal architects of the October Revolution in 1917. He served as the People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs and later as the head of the Red Army. Trotsky was known for his opposition to Stalin's policies and his advocacy for permanent revolution, which led to his eventual exile and assassination in 1940.
