After studying at prestigious fashion schools in Paris and apprenticing under notable designers such as Jacques Fath and Balenciaga, he opened his own fashion house in Rome in the 1960s. Valentino gained international fame when Jackie Kennedy wore his designs following the assassination of her husband, John F. Kennedy. Over his illustrious career, he dressed numerous A-list celebrities and was celebrated for his artistry in fashion. He retired in 2007, with his final haute couture show in 2008 marking the end of an era in fashion. Valentino passed away at the age of 93, surrounded by loved ones in his Roman home.
